Tiger!

Here we go again, some progress pics of the Kurland Tiger. Still got a lot of work to do.

The model is based on Tiger 233. After the basic coat i added some Mig filters and after they were dry i grabbed the oils and placed a large amount of dots in different colors. The first chipping round is made with buff and raw umber from Vallejo to create the older damage.

A light wash is placed on the sides and a darkerwash one top to simulate dirt and to pop out the higher parts. A dark pinwash is used for the welds.

Now it is time to create the fresh chips and scratches.

Time to share some pics, but remember that the end result isnt in sight yet ;)

Tiger is ready for paint!

Hey Folks,

The Tiger is finaly done and ready for some paint. The last zimmerit on the gun mantlet is made with white Milliput and after little patience the Friul tracks arrived. I used the Fiuls for the turret and  in some of them is a track pin added. On the front i also addes Friul tracks who are placed on selfmade PE hooks.

Next update...paint :)

Tiger I, sPzAbt.510, Kurland sector, 1944.

New project!

I found the rather complete AFV Tiger Ausf E late version and just had to buy him :)
The kit has a working torsionbar system, aluminium barrel with a very nice molded muzzlebrake and some nice details and a PE grille set.

I added a zimmerit patern with Milliput (white) and the commander cupola is treated with Mr surfacer 500 for some extra structure.

The kits rubber tracks will be replaced by Friul tracks.

I am planning a diorama of a cold Kurland scene. The working torsiebars screaming for a rough area so i got something to think about ;)

More soon!!

"Last Resort" Bergepanzer IV Hungary

My second dio is a Tamiya Panzer IV J with a Verlinden resin/pe conversion set. Extra update are Fruil winterketten and a Eduard PE set.

The Hungary setting isn't historical correct but fits perfectly for the Bergepanzer, another dio i am workig on is more historical correct of a Wiking Pnazer IV during Konrad I.

I tried to give to give the dio something that means two things, the Bergepanzer as a recovery vehicle and the interaction between the soldier and the Madonna statue, for most soldiers a "Last Resort" in recovery of there vehicles and faith in a despirate situation.

More pictures shall be placed in my new gallery, comming soon.

Panther SW 221 Ardennes

This report shows my first diorama with the Panther SW (Steel Wheel) 221 approaching Stoumont.

Peiper consolidated his forces at La Gleize during the night of 18 December, and on the 19th he set out for Stoumont.  There were American forces defending the town and Peiper lost a Panther tank, but the other Panthers pressed on.

The lead Panthers continued through Stoumont and took the road toward the train station, beyond where they hoped to find another bridge over the Ambleve intact.  However, as they passed the station they ran into a strong American force of 16 tanks and tank destroyers.  The outnumbered Panthers didn't have much of a chance; three were quickly knocked out and the rest withdrew.  For all practical purposes, this was the farthest advance of Kampfgruppe Peiper.
